Curves Supports the American Cancer Society--Local Fitness Club Walked for a Cure at Relay For Life® of Centre Hall

Curves® of State College and Bellefonte, part of the chain of the world’s largest franchisor of fitness clubs, participated in one of the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising events, Relay For Life®, held this past weekend at The Centre Hall Grange Fairgrounds. This is the fifth year that Curves has fielded a team for the event. Last year, the club raised more than $14,000 for this event. This year the Curves team combined to raise a record amount of $20,237. This total was substantial enough to make Curves of State College and Bellefonte the first place fundraising team for 2010 in the Centre Region.

"Relay is such an important event for us," said Curves owner Robin Fleck. "Nearly everyone can relate to being touched by cancer in some way, and this is a great opportunity for us to come together as a community and do something about it. It’s exciting to know that we’re not just participating with the members in our own community, but with other Curves owners and their members across the country as well."

Curves International is a National Corporate Team Program participant for both Relay for Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer®, making Curves the first corporation to become a National Corporate Team Program member of two key ACS events.
