On Tuesday, the CBICC hosted another virtual “Good Morning, Good News!” event for CBICC members.
Attendees spent an enjoyable hour seeing familiar faces, meeting new members, and hearing encouraging news from across Centre County! Here are a few highlights:
The Discovery Space re-opened on April 9. The center has a new exhibit and is planning to open another soon. It also hired 4 new full-time staff members. The Rivet is also open and continuing to offer workshops and open shop hours.
Seven Mountains Media announced that the B94.5 team was named “Outstanding Local Personality or Team for 2021” and 3WZ received an “Outstanding Radio Promotional Announcement or Contest” award from the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters. Angela of the B94.5 team was also named among the CBICC’s Centre Strong All-Stars.
Executive Offices by GN Associates announced the launch of a new website allowing small businesses to reserve a conference room or private office for only a few hours. The company is also offering a new business address plan service.
Mammoth Restoration has been working with local businesses to help them plan for future emergencies. The State College office is hiring for all positions.
Centre County Community Conferencing, a partnership between CentrePeace and Center for Alternatives in Community Justice, is officially launching in May. It will provide free neighbor dispute resolution services, as well as court diversion and reintegration services for formerly incarcerated individuals.
Steinbacher, Goodall, & Yurchak has added a new legal service to help individuals experiencing the onset of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease create a healthcare plan.
Piezo-Kinetics moved into a new space last Spring and is currently looking to hire additional staff members.
The Meadows Psychiatric Center successfully converted one of its buildings to specifically serve young adults. It also recently established a tele-assessment service for individuals in the community who are struggling.
West Penn Power is partnering with two local nonprofits, Wildlife for Everyone and Clearwater Conservancy, to plant over 725 trees in Centre County this year. The company is proud to offer its employees 2 paid days off each year for volunteer activities like this.
Penn State SBDC was recently recognized at a statewide conference. Will Hooten received a “Rising Star Award for an Individual Under the Age of 35,” Elizabeth Hay received a “State Star” award, and the center received a “Happy Client Award” and recognition for its performance.
Storm & Park officially moved into its permanent home at 600 Science Park. It also welcomed a new hire, Jake Owens.
Salvation Army is excited to resume its back-to-school program. Students served by the program will receive a new backpack, age appropriate school supplies, and new school clothes and shoes. The organization is looking for donations and businesses to host donation boxes.
WPSU received “Outstanding Radio Feature Story,” “Outstanding COVID Feature Story,” and “Outstanding Documentary Program” awards from the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters. It also shifted its programming during the pandemic to provide new digital media options such as virtual field trips and educational programs for teachers and students to utilize as remote learning options.
Envinity is celebrating a new contract with Solar United Neighbors to potentially do 52 homes in Pittsburgh. It will also host a webinar on April 29 to discuss energy security for homes and businesses.
Blair Plastic Surgery welcomed 2 new staff members and recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of one of its staff members. It is excited to hold its first in-person event of 2021 soon – a community yard sale in Altoona.
