On a beautiful summer morning, owner Matt Patterson and Ryan Kelly, general manager, cut the ribbon at the newest Jersey Mike's Subs location in the Hills Plaza on South Atherton Street (2135 S. Atherton St, State College, PA) while surrounded by Chamber of Business & Industry of Centre County (CBICC) Ambassadors and Members.
"We are excited to move into Hills Plaza to serve more of the State College area," noted Patterson. "With plenty of free parking and an easy access location, we hope to see many new community members."
Since 1956, Jersey Mike's Subs has been slicing subs to order on freshly baked bread and grilling cheesesteaks right in front of customers. Those standards remain true today, as their team members continue to provide customers with the best sub sandwich available.
Known for outstanding customer service, Patterson shared some insights into what he looks for in a future team member and how the skills they learn serve them beyond the counter.

"Energetic, young-at-heart folks who love working with the general public" are just a few of the characteristics that Patterson looks for during an interview. He also emphasized that a team-mentality is important.
"No task is above any team member," Patterson stated. "Ryan and I are still cleaning bathrooms just like everybody else. So we try to instill that and cross-train...we want to give them something valuable that they can use in future careers."
In addition to helping grow team members' career skills, Patterson also enjoys giving back to the community.
A local charity started by former State High, Penn State, and NFL football player Nathan Stupar, State of Hope, was the recipient of $1,650 that Jersey Mike's Subs raised during its five-day grand opening celebration this month. Pink Zone was the beneficiary of this year's Jersey Mike's Subs "Day of Giving" (last Wednesday in March), receiving over $30,000.
While Patterson enjoys a Club Sub noting that "everything is better with bacon" and Kelly prefers the #43 Chipotle Cheese Steak, the team at Jersey Mike's Subs is ready to freshly prepare your order just the way you like it!
Patterson and his team look forward to seeing you during your summer travels at their 16 locations across central Pennsylvania. You can find them in Williamsport, Altoona, Harrisburg, Lancaster, and York County. More information is available on their app and website.
